Jerusalem, Israel - Western Wall

Jerusalem, Israel

Western Wall AKA Wailing Wall

After visiting the major Christian site (Church of the Holy Sepulchre) within the Old City of Jerusalem I walked through the Muslim quarter to get to the other side and to the Western Wall. This wall was actually never part of a temple; instead, it was part of the wall that enclosed the part of the city where the temple was. Or something like that. Anyways, it's the holiest spot in Judaism.

Now, after going through metal detectors, you can go right up to the wall and pray there. Well, if you're a man. Women have a "special" section off in the corner. (Insert sarcastic remark here. I actually just deleted three different, probably offensive, sentences. But I deleted them in the spirit of acceptance!) People also leave little notes in the crevices of what they are praying for. I prayed for desegregation of the genders.
